Title: The PhD Journey without Tears

Abstract:
PhD studies are the highest level of education, and many students are nowadays keen to complete a PhD. Pursuing a PhD is always a highly inspiring and extremely challenging journey. However while many students find their doctoral process rewarding, others may find it filled with fear, rejection, frustrations and depression. The aim of this talk is to offer some advice and tips on how to approach your PhD and make the journey less stressful, enjoyable and more rewarding.

Khadija El Bouchefry obtained her PhD in 2009 from KwaZulu-Natal University, Durban, South Africa. From 2012 until 2014 she worked as Post-doctoral researcher at Kwazulu-Natal and then Unisa. In Nov 2014 she joined Harthebeestheok Radio Astronomy Observatory as a research fellow. Her research interests are: Multi-wavelength astronomy/Radio Astronomy, Data Mining and Virtual Observatory tools, and Machine learning techniques and its application in Astronomy.
